Wanted to replace my sundowner solo seat with a Mustang solo. I knew at some point I might want the option of having a back rest. Talked to the woman selling seats and if I bought the regular one, I couldn't add it on later. I'd have to sell the seat and buy another one compatible with the back rest. Sooooo.... I bit the bullet and bought the seat with the back rest. I kind of felt having the back rest was farty but now I love it!!! It took away some of the pinching pain too by my neck and shoulder blade.

I agree ,riders backrest makes all the difference. Not fond of the look but well worth it. Got mine used from a member here.

I'm old, and until this year never owned a bagger. The old biker adage "less is better". Broke down and bought an E-Glide, and the first thing I put on her was the riders backrest.....should have done that 10 years ago! Greatest thing since sliced bread. It is amazing how much that little support helps.

Love my Mustang seat and the backrest.
I went from having to get off the seat every couple of hours to being able to ride about 8 hours. Really made a difference with my back issues.

Bev, you must have a butt like my wife's. No, I'm not talking about shapely, firm, or great to look at......although hers is. I'm talking about the ability to ride on it forever. When she leads, we have to keep reminding her that the rest of us (mostly male) NEED to stop more than gas fill-ups. It was OK when she had her Sportie, custom tank only held 2.5 gallons. Her Deluxe is good for 200+ miles.
Note to all, I've never met Bluerose.......yet, so any nasty thoughts you have about my comments about her hiney are strictly in your dirty mind.

I used to be that way till I got my Mustang seat, I can go 600 miles with just gas stops. I might be able to go farther, but thats as far as I've gone in one shot so far.

I've yet to try the backrest, but may end up doing so some day.
Meanwhile, I've found that putting my feet up on the lower-fairing of my Ultra Classic, takes the pressure off of my tailbone, and allows me to ride without butt pain. Problem with this is that you can only do this on the freeway where you don't have to downshift for long stretches.
