Took of with a fellow contractor for a lunch run in ojai. A little fog, but it started to clear up near pepperdine college. My friend has a yamaha that's pretty fast so He likes to run the bike. And of course I don't have the self control to let him go,sooooo I thought I'd Him what a good running harley can do.Jumped on it, through it in second, missed the gear, through it in second again, missed the gear, third, nothing,no gears, did I blow up the clutch.no,but there was a black belt thing dragging on the ground. And as fast as You can say AAA, I was calling for a flatbed.Lesson learned, 1 1/8" belt on 750# bike and a 325# rider and a lead foot= ride in the tow truck.MIKE

Ouch!  That shouldn't have happened.  There must have been damage to the belt already.

Sorry to hear about it though!

Itook it to the mechanic,He say's,dude, You know it's a long weekend and We were planning to close early. So I drop to My knees, and beg Him to fix it. so I got a possible gift He might try to come in tomorrow to fix it. Which was extremely cool to offer.I have hope it will get done. And by the way I didn't see any bad places on the belt other than the break and the piece that was dragged on the ground.MIKE

I've read that the belt is supposed to be a big improvement over the chain and last a really long time. I've got the tool to check the tension. Funny how the dealer has never asked how much I weigh since when they are doing the service they are supposed to check the belt tension with the aprox riders weight sitting on the bike

Strange things happen when you go up against a yamaha!  I have an old XV920R that eats up my '07 RG.

My mechanic was saying that hard shifting and downshifting will cause it to break. But what I think is torque + pork = dork.MIKE
