Did the ride today. On the way out and thru Ojai was uneventful. Riding the 33 got a little interesting around Pine Mountain Summit. That pea gravel they put on the roads is slick. There wasn't any snow on the road, but we took it slow in case there was ice. We didn't encounter any though.
Once on the 166 westbound to Santa Maria, thought we were going to get some rain, but it stayed to the north. We gassed up in Santa Maria and then went on into Los Olivos. Although we wanted to wait and eat at Cold Springs Tavern 20 or so miles down the road, we couldn't resist and had their BBQ tri tip sandwiches. I think what makes them so tasty is that they put a garlic spread on the rolls and then put them on the BBQ.We sat on the patio in the sun and boy did it feel good.
We then went on to Cold Springs Tavern, and as usual, it was pretty busy. We got a couple cold drinks and shivered standing outside, it was freezing there. We stood by the fire for a while, but decided to hightail it as it was going on 3:30.
Traffic on the 101 was fairly heavy and of course we had to split lanes on the 405 because it was a parking lot. Made it back by 5:30.
Overall it was a great ride, put in about 390 miles. Next time, we HAVE to wait and eat at Cold Springs Tavern. There BBQ sandwiches looked pretty aewsome!
